High School Cheerleader Tryouts will be held May 10, 12 & 13.  All those interested can sign up in the high school office OR online at the www.na60.org homepage.

The track team performed well at Wednesday's Conference Meet.  Joelli Wahlig, Stevi Price, Cassie Crabtree, and Taylor Marhanka earned ribbons for placing 4th in the 4X100, and 4X200 and placing 6th in the 4X400.  Emma File, Taylor Marhanka, Cassie Crabtree,and Stevi Price placed 4th in the 4X800.  Ethan Cockrell, Jon Alfeldt, TJ Hollansworth, and Devin Caswell earned ribbons by placing 6th in the 4X800.  Ethan Cockrell placed 4th in the 800, and Max Fowler ran a great race to place 4th in the 300 hurdles to earn individual ribbons.

Congratulations to the baseball and softball teams on their wins over Marissa last night.

Good luck to the softball team this afternoon as they begin play in the Marissa Tournament at 3:30 against Marissa.

Anyone interested in working the Grand American at the World Shooting and Recreation Complex this summer needs to see Mr. Hager for an application.

 Wednesday, May 11th - Graduation Practice during 1st Hour in the Junior High Gym.

 Please bring all food items for the Senior Trip by Wednesday, May 11th.

  All Seniors attending the class trip need to be here at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13th.

 Our last FCA Huddle meeting will be next Thursday, May 12th.   Aleen Dutkanych will be presenting starting at 6:00 a.m. in Mrs. Dehler's Room.  Please join us and enjoy Food, Fun, and Fellowship!

 We will leave for the Six Flags immediately following the meeting around 7:00 a.m.    Please wear your New Athens FCA T-Shirt to the Field Trip.  Also, please bring all food items that you signed up for on Wednesday, May 11th.

 The FCA just wanted to touch base regarding Shelby Strackeljahn and her trip to Denver, Colorado.  Shelby has been given the opportunity to go on a nine week training program called Summer Leadership Program.  We collected money and presented it to Shelby this past Friday.  If you would still like to support Shelby and didn't get a chance to bring in your donation, please give it to Mrs. Dehler or Mrs. Patton by this Friday.  The FCA will be sending Shelby an additional donation and will send it out Friday afternoon.


 Library fines are being sent out and that Seniors need to have theirs paid before they graduate.

The first Friday in May is wear your butterfly tee shirt day.

The New Athens Firemen Ladies Auxiliary is conducting the search for candidates to participate in the annual Miss New Athens Queen contest.  Miss New Athens is determined by the number of tickets each girl sells.  Miss New Athens will receive $500.00 along with 10% of her sales.  Cash prizes are also given for everyone who participates.  


Applications are in the High School Office or see Regina Kurtz in the Superintendents office for more information or an application.

The Because We Can Scholarship is now available to any senior who plans to pursue a career in Health care. Applications are in the office.

Juniors-The Better Business Bureau Student of Ethnics Award Program is offering a $2500. scholarship to a Junior student showing leadership, community service and overall personal integrity and an academic history.  Information on this scholarship is available in the office.                Deadline: 5-30-16.

After School Workouts start Monday, April 4th after school.  These workouts are designed for any student that wants to build strength and endurance.  These workouts will meet from 3:30 p.m. -4:00 p.m. and will be run by Mrs. Dehler, Mrs. Nurnberger, and Mrs. Patton.  The workouts are offered to 8th graders and all High School Students.
