The New Athens Athletic Department will be sponsoring an athletic physical exam for sports on Thursday, May 20, 2010 and Monday, May 24, 2010 at Dr. Wade’s office.  All physicals will be given in the doctor’s office at the New Athens Medical Center from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments will be scheduled every 5 minutes. Call New Athens High School at 475-2173 to make an appointment.

 Each participating student athlete needs to pick up an IHSA Preparticipation form from either the High School Office or the Grade School Office prior to the physical date.  In order to receive the physical exam, the parent must have completed the medical history portion of the form and MUST be signed by the student AND the parent/guardian of the student.

The student/athlete will not be able to take the exam if the form is not complete and signed by both the student and the parent/guardian.  The cost of the exam is $25.00 per person.  Make all checks payable to New Athens C.U.S.D

 

-The HS Library will closed on Monday May 17th.  Please return all books and settle any fines with Mr. Treece by then.  He will be less forgiving if he has to come and find you.  There is an overdue list and a fines owed list on the HS LIbrary door.

Seniors:  The Laptop scholarship applications are due to Mrs. Wolter at the beginning of the day on Monday, May 17th.

 

 Students attending SWIC in the Fall-SWIC is offering a Top 10% of the Class scholarship.  So if you are in the top 10% of your class and attending SWIC check in the guidance office for details.  Deadline: End of the School Year.

 

Miss Hand will have  a meeting on Monday during activity period for FFA students going on the Six Flags Trip and a second meeting on Tuesday during homeroom for students going to the State Convention.

 

The girl's Sectional track meet is today at Sparta.

 

Congratulations to the boy's track team on their good showing at the Conference meet.  Cameron Reuss earned ribbons for 2nd in the 400 (new school record) and 5th in the 100. The 4X800 relay team of Ben Mohr, Adam Ingles, Jeremy Hepp, and Zach Bogacki earned a 5th place ribbon. Adam Ingles was 6th in the high jump, Zach Bogacki was 7th in the 3200 and Ben Mohr was 8th in the 1600 with a personal record.

 

The baseball team lost a close game (2-0) to Mater Dei yesterday.  The boys have a doubleheader at home against Roxana beginning at 1:00 on Saturday.

 

The softball team is scheduled to play at Trico at 11:00 AM on Saturday.

 

The Senior overnight field trip to Holiday World is today and tomorrow.

The band and chorus under the direction of Mrs. Patterson presented an excellent concert last night.

Congratulations to the winners of last night's art exhibition.  The show was judged by the Women's Club who also furnished the cash prizes:

5th--Sara Broadway, 4th--Amelia Muir, 3rd--Ben Mohr, 2nd--Kayla Grass ,and 1st--Rachel "The Captain" Stoops who just "nosed" out the other competitiors. 

The Awards Banquet is Monday at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria.  Parents/Students should have desserts at the school by 6:10 PM.
