Volleyball Players attending the SIUE Team camp this summer need to pay Mrs. Patton $25 by the end of this month.   The dates for the team camp are Thursday, July 29 and Friday, July 30th.

 

Reminder:  Get your teams signed up for the 2nd Annual Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament.  It's Saturday, April 24th------  Cost is $7.00 a person and the top 3 teams will receive T-shirts this year..       Sign up with Mrs. Patton!
 
Third floor is dismissed early for lunch this week.
 
A tornado drill will be conducted at 10AM tomorrow.
 
All school testing will be conducted on Wednesday.  Teachers will explain the format and procedures to students.
 
The senior citizen Easter Luncheon will be held on Wednesday.

 

The HS Spring Band and Chorus Concert is Tuesday.  Come and enjoy traditional chorus, band, and ensemble music at 7:00! 

Volleyball Team--Pictures are Wednesday @ 3:00 in the H.S. gym.   You  MUST bring your form and money!!!  !!!  Everyone on the team is required to be there!

The baseball and softball teams are scheduled to play at Gibault today.  They also have home games scheduled for Wednesday against Carlyle.
 
The track team is scheduled to compete at Columbia on Tuesday. Members should be dismissed at 2:50 and the bus will leave at 3:00.

 

If you would like the opportunity to tour Washington DC, check with Ms. Boyles for details.  The Monroe County Elecric Co-Operative is sponsoring an essay contest that could send you on a Washington trip this June 11-18.  Write a 500 word essay on "What rural electrification is and a brief history of the Rural Electrification Administration or REA."  Ms Boyles has resource materials if you are interested.  Contest entry deadline is Monday,
April 1.

 

The Monroe County Electric Co-Operative is also sponsoring an all-inclusive trip to Springfield, Illinois, where students will get to tour the Capitol, Supreme Court, and other historical sites.  This "Youth Day in Springfield" is on Wednesday, April 21.  If you are interested and you are a sophomore or junior, submit your name to Ms. Boyles.  Two students from New Athens High School are eligible to attend - your name could be one of them.  Ms. Boyles will need to know all interested people by March 26.

 

The Faculty Council will be meeting next week to select new Honor Society members.  If you did not submit your forms on time and would still like to be considered, you may write a letter explaining your situation and why you would like to be considered for National Honor Society.  This letter should be attached to an essay discussing how you meet the requirements of Honor Society.  Have these to Ms. Boyles by Monday, March 22.

 

FCA students going to meeting tonight, must check in with Mrs. Wolter before noon!

 

McKendree University representative will be here on Tuesday, March during activity.  If you want to meet with the rep please sign up by noon on the 22nd.

 

Seniors-St. Clair County Constant J & Mary Lenore Comment Scholarship is being offered.   Student must reside in St. Clair County, have a 3.0 GPA or above and be in the top 20% of your class.  Applications available in the guidance office.  Deadline: tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!.

 

Seniors-entering a medical care or well-being of senior citizens field of study- the United Steelworkers SOAR Scholarship.  Student must be a child or grandchild of a SOAR member.  Deadline: 3-27-10. 

 

Seniors-entering a health related field of study- St. Clement Community Foundation is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship.  Deadline: 3-29-10.

 

Seniors-LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP-Helen Dickson Troester for students in education.  Deadline: 3-31-10.

 

Seniors entering the teaching profession-Alpha Delta Kappa Illinois Scholarship is being offered.  Deadline: 3-31-10.

 

After Prom ticket sales will be on the following Thursdays:  March 25th, and April 8th & 15th.  Dairy Queen mini-blizzard certificates will be given to those students who purchase after-prom tickets on March 18th. Tickets will be $5.  All students 18 and younger will need a signed permission slip to purchase a ticket.
