New Athens District #60 will host its sixth annual Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremonies to honor and recognize graduates for our outstanding accomplishments, employees of District #60 who have made significant contributions to the school system, or friends of the District who have shown outstanding support.  The newly selected inductees include:

John Main.............................Athletics
Scott Thies............................Athletics
Dr. Theodore Trappe.............Community and school service
Warren Trotter.....................Teacher/Coach

The event is open to the public, but there is a $10 fee to cover the cost of the meal for those wishing to eat.  Reservations for the meal can be made by calling Peggy (475-2173) at the high school office.  The catered meal will probably include roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, salad, rolls, dessert, and drinks.

5:00 PM—Doors open, social time
5:30 PM—Opening remarks and meal
6:15 PM—Approximate time for awards presentation

The Pride Committee will continue to sell Krispy Kreme Doughnuts the first Friday of every month.  The next date that Krispy Kreme will be for sell is Friday, October 5th.  There is now an opportunity to pre-order a dozen of doughnuts.   If you would like to pre-order your dozen, we will sell them for $10.00 and there will be a sign-up sheet outside of Mrs. Patton's door.

"Mr. Treece and Mr. Kreher will be holding re-auditions for the role of Conroy for the upcoming play The Bachelor King. The role can be performed by either a male or female student, and auditions will take place thursday in the High School Library from 3:30-4:00pm. If you are unable to make this time and still wish to audition for the role, please notify Mr. Treece or Mr. Kreher in advance."

Seniors-Lindenwood College representative will be her on Sept 18th at 3:00.  If you would like to meet with him, please sign up in the high school office.

SeniorAthletes-If you have a “B” average and participate in at least one school sportyou can apply for the Wendy’s Heisman scholarship.  Information is available on the bulletinboards and in the guidance office. Deadline: 10-2-12.

·        Junior sand Seniors-The 51st Annual U.S. Senate Youth Program sponsored by The Wm. Randolph Hearst Foundation is offering this youth programs to students currently serving in an elected or selected office in your school.  Student must show leadership ability.  If you think you would be interested in this program, check in guidance office for details. Deadline: 10-3-12.

The After Prom committee is looking for volunteers to work the Waterloo Haunted Trail the weekend of October 5-6th. A free meal and soda are provided. Volunteers would need to be at the Sportsman’s Club each night by 5-5:30 to have make up applied and to be in place by 7PM until close at 11PM. Volunteers can by any age, including younger brothers and sisters. Lori Main-Sinn is your contact for this project and she can take a group on Saturday, September 29thfor a walk through. Contact Lori at 406-3438 for more information.

Mr. Kinzinger and Mrs. Hogg will need to meet this Friday during activity period with all boat race volunteers to hand out arm bands, etc. The meeting will be in the cafeteria.

Tomorrow (Thursday 9/13) there will be a meeting at 6:00 in Ms. Spencer's room for those already enrolled in the trip to Costa Rica.  Immediately following at 7:00, there will be an informational parent meeting for any student who would still like to enroll


Congratulations to Derrick Hoffman for placing 15th at yesterday's Sparta Cross Country Invitational and earning an individual award.  Freshman, TJ Hollnasworth ran a strong race to finish as the #7 runner on the boy's team.  Olivia Hoffman earned an individual award for finishing 4th in the girl's race as did Bailey Dudeck for finishing in the top twenty.  Lexi Cahoon just missed an award by finishing 23rd.  The teams run at Chester on Thursday.


The volleyball team will travel to Massac County on Friday to participate in a Saturday tournament. there.

There will be an FCA Meeting tonight , at 5:30,in the J.H. Gym


Freshmen and juniors may go in the gym during lunch period today.

Starting today the Volleyball Teams will be selling Pink Carnations during lunch. Sells will start this Wednesday and run through next Friday. The carnations will be $2.00 and will be delivered Friday, September 28th during lunc

A representative from Murray State will be here at 8:15 tomorrow. Please sign up in the office to mee with the rep.

First floor will be dismissed early for lunch this week.

Today's lunch menu includes BBQ pork for A lunch and sloppy joe for B lunch
