After falling behind 8-0 at the beginning of last night's boy's basketball game at Gibault, the team battled back to take a five point lead during the second half, and the game was tied with less than a minute to go.  Gibault made some free throws late in the game to secure a five point win.  The boys play at Marissa on Friday.

The girl's basketball team plays tonight at 6:00 PM in the Chester Tournament.
Beck students will not attend afternoon classes on Friday.
The high school alumni game has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 30th due to a conflict with the boy's Chester Tournament.

Student Council will need to meet next Monday during homeroom.

Tickets for the Homecoming Dance will go on sale at lunch next Wednesday through the following Tuesday.  Tickets are $5 a person and $8 for two people.  Tickets prices will raise after Tuesday, January 19.

Students must complete a guest permission slip for the Homecoming Dance if they are inviting a guest who is not currently attending New Athens High School.  All guests must be high school students or older.  Permission slips must be signed by the principal of the school the guest is attending, and must be returned by January 19th.

Tie Dye is the theme for this year's homecoming.  Tie Dye shirts that say “New Athens Homecoming NAILSTOCK 2010” (similar to this year's student council shirts) are on sale.  Buy your tie dye shirt now so that you can have them for homecoming week.  The price of the shirts is $12 and the orders need to be turned in by the Friday.

This year's Homecoming week, like the years prior, will be held as a friendly competition.  Everything you do will be worth points.  Every person who dresses up will get a point for your class, door decorating is worth points, the poster for the gym is worth points, the eating contest is worth points, and the tug of war is worth points.  At the end of the week, whichever class earns the most points, wins Homecoming week.

This year's poster night's activities is now changed to POSTER DAY!  On Martin Luther King Day we will be working on posters at 1:00 in the afternoon at school.  Remember that each class and organization is usually represented for the poster that is hung to decorate the gym.

Students who made the honor roll first quarter are entitled to a Hidden Valley Ski Lift Pass valued at $42.  The passes are good Monday through Friday.  See Mr. Works if you qualified and want a pass.  These passes are not to be used in conjunction with the PE skiing field trip.

Auditions for the community play will take place this Saturday at the Methodist Church at 1PM.

There will be a meeting Thursday during homeroom in the cafeteria for all HS students interested in playing volleyball next fall.

The Athletic Department is selling the long-sleeve shirts during lunch each day this week and next week.  There are also forms available in the H.S. office to order the same logo in a hoodie or t-shirt.    All orders are due, Friday, January 15, 2010.
