There will be a National Honor Society meeting on Thursday during homeroom in Mrs. Hogg's room.

Congratulations to the FFA Parliamentary procedure team for receiving 3rd place at last nights contest.  The team consisted of Bailey Lance, Cassidy Dickerson, Riley Kinzinger, Faith Middendorf, Ethan Fleming, Katlin Chiles, and Trinity Heintz.  Special congratulations to Baliey Lance for earning second place chairperson, Cassidy Dickerson for earning 2nd place secretary, and Faith Middendorf for earning 9th place floor member.

Volleyball Players:
All players are expected to work during the Junior High Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, January 18th. Please sign up for the All-You-Can-Eat Crock Pot Lunch by Wednesday, January 18th. The sign in sheet is outside Mrs. Patton's door. 

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and the New Athens Volleyball Team will be selling carnations again this year.  The colors are as followed:
Red- I love you
Pink - I like you
Yellow - Friendship 
White - Secret Admirer

We will be selling the carnations for $2.00 a piece and $5.00 for three.

The carnations will be delivered during lunch on February 14th.  Please contact Mrs. Patton if you would like to order carnations for your friends, family, and loved ones. 

Good luck to the girls basketball team as they travel to Dupo tonight. There will be one varsity game, starting at 6:15.

Good luck to the boys basketball team as they take on Cobden tonight at the Chester Tournament at 6.

Reminder: tomorrow is a 12:11 dismissal and there is no school on Monday, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.





Seniors, here is a list of the scholarships that are currently available:

     Seniors-CBAI Foundation For Community Banking Annual Scholarship Fund is offering scholarships.  Information on this scholarship is available in the office.  Deadline: 2-1-17.

·       Seniors-Illinois PTA is awarding two scholarships to seniors interested in pursuing a degree in education or an education-related degree program. Applications are available on their website.  Information available in the high school office.  Deadline: 2-15-17.

·       Seniors-Farm Credit Agriculture Scholarships are available to students who plan to enroll in an agricultural-based college curriculum.  Information is available in the high school office.  Deadline: 2-27-17.

·       Seniors-The Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship Award is being offered.  This is a financial need scholarship.  Information on this scholarship is available in the high school office.         Deadline: 2-28-17.

·       Seniors-The National Defense Transportation Association Scott/St. Louis Chapter is offering scholarships to promote careers in business, transportation logistics, and physical distribution.  Information is available in the High School Office.               Deadline: 3-1-17.

  ·       Seniors-The Monroe Illinois Electric Cooperative Memorial Scholarship is being offered to members of the electric cooperative.  Information on this scholarship is available in the High School office.  Deadline: 4-30-17.

       Seniors-The St. Clair County Retired Teachers Association Education Scholarship is being offered to seniors entering college for the purpose of becoming a teacher.  Applications and information is available in the High School Office.             Deadline: 3-31-17.

·       Seniors-The Dr. Willard Scrivner Public Health Foundation Scholarship is being offered to seniors who have chosen to pursue a health-related field of study.  Information on this scholarship is available in the office.  Deadline: 3-31-17.

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants 
are pleased to be able to continue with our scholarship program for the 10th year.
 
We will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year.
