New Breakfast/Lunch Program

posted Jul 19, 2010, 7:39 AM by Michael Treece
Dear Parents & Students, We have a new student information system for the upcoming school year. Common Goal’s TeacherEase will provide us with online grades and other student information well into the future. A new component of TeacherEase will be an automated lunch program. Starting on August 18th, we will pilot a new automated breakfast/lunch student debit account program in our cafeteria. The goal will be to improve the speed of the lunch line and streamline administrative paperwork. This will replace our lunch tickets. Here is how the program will work: 1. Deposits • We ask that most deposits be made on Mondays or the first day of the school week, though we can accept them any morning. • For efficient processing, we ask that deposits be made by the week or month (1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, etc.), or in multiples of $20 ($20, $40, $60, etc.). • Cash and check deposits should be brought to the homeroom teacher or office in an envelope with student name(s) clearly written on the envelope (and checks). • Initially, we will not be taking online deposits, but may activate this service in the future if we get many requests. 2. Purchases • Primary students (K-2) will have their ID numbers scanned by the cashier. Purchases will be charged to the student debit account. • Older students (3-12) will be asked to memorize their 6-digit student ID and key it in to the PIN pad at the cashier. Items will be selected and charged to the student debit account. • Cash can still be taken at the register, but our goal is to eliminate cash transactions at the register as much as possible. 3. Records • Detailed records of your child’s (children’s) transactions can be viewed online in the parent portal. • Weekly balance notifications will be sent by email on Friday afternoons, or the afternoon of the last day of the week. • Paper statements can be printed upon request. On the first day of school, we will review student ID numbers and assist our students with memorizing the number. Our cashier will have ID numbers on- hand for students who are still memorizing their number. Unfortunately, the student ID number is not visible in the parent portal and does not print our our schedules, so we will distribute the ID numbers on the first day of school. This is the same number that our students have always had and the same number used in the libraries. If you have any further questions, please contact Mike Treece.
