All available crew should meet in Mrs. Dehler's room during Nail.

There is a senior class meeting right now in the high school gym.

Today and tomorrow, all students enrolled in English 2 will take the PARCC test. Testing will begin right after homeroom and students will return to class when testing is over. All students testing should bring earbuds and a book to read when they are finished testing. Those students with last names Adams-Hundelt will be in Mrs. Thoma's room. Those students with last names Irby-Page will be testing in the Trotter Lab, and those students with last names Price-Zimmerman will be testing in the Elementary Library.

Mr. Gallaher's third hour US History class will meet in his room.

Track team needs to be dismissed after 7th hour for their meet at Red Bud today.

Congratulations to the FFA Ag Business Management team for receiving 2nd place last night.  The team consisted of Jodi Griffin, Cassidy Dickerson, Kara Hollansworth, Bailey Lance, and Kirsten Hollansworth.  Also congratulations to Jodi for receiving 9th place and Cassidy for receiving 3rd place as individuals.  The team qualifies for the state contest May 4th at Rend Lake college.


The New Athens Firemen Ladies Auxiliary is conducting the search for candidates to participate in the annual Miss New Athens Queen contest.  Miss New Athens is determined by the number of tickets each girl sells.  Miss New Athens will receive $500.00 along with 10% of her sales.  Cash prizes are also given for everyone who participates.  

Applications are in the High School Office or see Regina Kurtz in the Superintendents office for more information or an application.

 All FCA members that plan to attend the field trip to Six Flags Thursday, May 12th need to sign-up by Mrs. Patton's office.  Each student will also need to sign up for a food item to bring that day for lunch. The deadline to sign up will be Wednesday, March 23rd

If anyone is interested in being a manager for the track team, please let Peggy know.

Anyone who is interested in joining the Freeburg Wave swim team, there are fliers and information available in the office.

 If you need an athletic locker to store your equipment, please see Peggy. You are not allowed to store your bags in the weight room or athletic storage room.

 

Students: a reminder that your cell phone is to remain in your locker during the school day except at lunch. This includes walking from class to class.

Applications are in the office for the $500 Charles M. Lynch Because We Can Scholarship.  Criteria are:l
  • currently a senior in high school

  • considering a profession in the medical field

  • has a passion for volunteer service/helping others

Deadline is April 15.

§  Seniors-The Association of the United States Army- St. Louis Gateway Chapter is offering scholarships to students parent is currently a member of any active, guard or reserve component of the U.S.Army.  Information is available in the high school office for this scholarship.  Deadline:3-9-16.

§  Seniors-Metro Area Profession Organization is offering scholarships to students with a 2.5 or better GPA.  Applications available in the office.  Deadline: 3-18-16.

§  Seniors- St. Clair County Retired Teachers Association is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship to a student entering college for the purpose of becoming a teacher.  Information on this scholarship is available in the high school office.  Deadline: 3-31-16.

§  Seniors-The Dr. Willard C. Scrivner Public Health Foundation is offering a $500.00 Scholarship to a student entering a health-related field of study.  Applications are available in the office.  Deadline: 4-1-16.

§  Seniors- Alpha Delta Kappa Illinois-Iota Chapter is offering a $1,000.00 Scholarship to a student entering college for the purpose of becoming a teacher.  If interested, please check in the high school office for details.   Deadline: 4-1-16.

§  Seniors-Mathis Marifian & Richter Ltd. law firm is offering a scholarship to a student pursuing a career as an attorney.  Information on this scholarship is available in the office.  Deadline: 4-1-16.

§  Seniors-Citizens Community Bank awarding a $1,000.00 scholarship to a 2016 NACHS graduate who intends to pursue a college degree in any field.  Applications are available in the office.   Deadline:  4-11-16.

Seniors-The Society of American Military Engineers Scott Field Post is offering this scholarship to a student entering an engineering program.  Information on this is available in the office.  Deadline: 3-31-16.

§  Seniors-The Joint Apprenticeship Committee The Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons  Apprentice Program will accept applications April 4-15th.  More information on this program  is available in the office.

§  Seniors-The Mary McHugh Scholarship is being offered to students committed to cultural awareness; academic success; community involvement and service; and leadership.  Information on this scholarship is available in the office.  Deadline: 4-15-16.
